Cambridge Community Innovation Centre original plans
Our original plans for the wider centre are below:
Citylife's response is the Cambridge Community Innovation Centre to provide affordable space and business support for these groups - with particular attention paid to youth and younger adults - plus support and advice organisations.
The Cambridge Community Innovation Centre would be built on the site of the old Howard Mallett building in the Petersfield area of the city, and will become a 'launch pad' and base for social enterprises run on a not-for-profit basis, and for start-ups by young or disadvantaged people. The purpose-designed premises - a low-rise, fully accessible 'green' building - will also act as a centre for enterprise agencies, and will have a cafe, meeting rooms and rehearsal space for local people to enjoy.
Proposals for this exciting new building were unveiled at a public exhibition in January 2006. Based on feedback various amendments have been made to the design and a planning application has now been granted by Cambridge City Council.
