What's the big idea?
The vision is to create a business innovation centre with a difference - to grow businesses that do good for the community and the environment.
Citylife's innovation centre will be an enterprise hub that demonstrates the possibilities for combining good business practice with the business of doing good. It will support charities learning to trade, social enterprises wanting to grow and companies developing products that result in social or environmental benefits.
This new permanent building will be part of 'The Hive' - an enterprise and education park for a generation of change situated in North Cambridge - see www.talktothehive.org
What's the plan?
The Centre will be a new, permanent home that replaces Citylife's two temporary facilities in Cambridge providing low-cost accommodation and support for a range of enterprises. It is due to be submitted for planning permission in May 2010, and if approved we hope it will be operational by end 2011.
