background

Citylife is an independent charitable organisation, incorporated as an Industrial and Provident Society, which raises funds in three ways - membership, donations and selling Bonds - each leading ultimately to community benefit (as opposed to member benefit, as is the case in many Industrial and Provident Societies).

Our Vision is for a relational society where communities and neighbourhoods are good places in which to to live, work and learn; where all members of society have access to the choices that will enable them to feel physically safe, financially secure, at peace with their neighbours, valued as part of their community and willing to balance personal gain with community benefit.

Our Mission is to be at the forefront of developing social investment mechanisms that enable organisations, businesses and local people to finance solutions to counter disadvantage in their own communities.

"The reason for Citylife's existence is greater than it ever was."

Founded by the Relationships Foundation in 1995 Citylife became an independent charitable society in 1999. In the same year it piloted the first charitable Bond in Sheffield. The Relationships Foundation grew out of the work of the Jubilee Centre, a Christian think tank on key public policy issues.

Citylife, the Relationships Foundation and the Jubilee Centre, together with Concordis International, are each members of the informal co-operative association called the Jubilee House Forum.
