The Awards Scheme

The Awards will be made available to give those from the coalfields areas an opportunity to pursue their aspirations, which are currently unattainable due to financial constraints.
Awards will be disbursed via the Coalfields Regeneration Trust (CRT) following recommendations from a Selection Panel and expert opinions from the creative and cultural industries.
The CRT have identified priority wards that will be eligible to apply for grants within these counties:
Blaenau Gwent, Brecknock, Carmarthen, Cynon Valley, Delyn, Dinefwr, Islwyn, Llanelli, Lliw Valley, Merthyr Tydfil, Neath, Ogwr, Port Talbot, Rhondda, Rhymney Valley, Taff-Ely, Torfaen and
Wrexham Maelor
AIMS OF THE AWARDS SCHEME
to identify people with the necessary interest, ambition, potential and enthusiasm who will benefit from an Award
to make Awards that will encourage training and/or educational opportunities for people from former coalfield areas who would not easily be able to access such opportunities.
to make Awards that will remove barriers to training, employment or enterprise with a view to developing creative talent especially in film, music, media and industry infrastructure.
To develop and retain intellectual property or economic added value within Coalfields Regeneration Trust priority wards
Expand the skills base in the TV, Film and Music industries within Coalfields Regeneration Trust priority wards
Identify and address infrastructure gaps in those industries
EXAMPLE GRANTS
help those wanting to pursue a career in the creative sector via funding of, for example, musical instruments, rehearsal space or art materials
people wishing to undertake apprenticeships, for tools, travel or specialist clothing to enable them to eventually contribute to the infrastructure of Wales
people entering further or higher education who may need financial help
a visionary who wants to regenerate a sense of community through a virtual or actual network
an enterprising individual who wishes to set up their own business but needs a hand with start-up costs.
